Puppy Toilet Training

Do you find puppy toilet training a difficult challenge if not an impossible task to do? If you are one of those dog owners who is always challenged of cleaning your dog's mess inside the house, then you certainly need to toilet train your dog.

If you have a puppy, consider yourself lucky because puppies are easier to train compared to adult dogs. Puppies have not yet developed bad habits while adult dogs may have already developed bad habits that are sometimes hard to break. Either way, training can be made easy as long as you are well aware of the essentials of dog toilet training.

Begin puppy toilet training as soon as you bring your dog home. Select a specific area where you want him to eliminate. Specifically, the area should be close to the door so that it would be easy for him to gain access every time he has to go. Take your puppy in that specified area at least every two hours and immediately after eating or playing. Feeding on a regular schedule also helps establish a habit of eliminating at regular times.

Another method used in house training involves the use of crate. Crate training method is commonly used by most owners because of the dog's natural den instinct. Dogs do not like to soil their dens thus will try to control their desire to eliminate. Through this, a dog will eventually learn to wait until he is taken outside to eliminate. The crate or the cage should only be enough for your dog's bed or else he might end eliminating on one side and sleep on the other side.
